I am pleased to share that all WCL services remain free from COVID -19.
We now have access to regular testing for both residents and colleagues.
You may have seen in the news this week that the government have made the decision to start reintroducing visiting in care homes. The government released set guidance on the 23rd July 2020. What this does not mean is that visiting is back to how it was, we still need to have measure in place.
So what does it mean:
We are working towards all the individuals we support having an individual visiting plan, in which we will take into consideration
- Health Risks
- Abilities and capacity to comply with social distancing
- Visiting risk measures
The plan will be created in accordance with the Individual, the care provider and the visitor. There will be five visiting options available from window visits to a segregated area in the home, each carries its own risk and the lowest risk option will be applied following consideration of the areas outlined above.
You will be contacted directly by the service to discuss and contribute to your loved ones plan; there may be occasions where an advocate will be appointed to support decisions.
All visits will continue to be arranged through an appointment booking system, symptoms checker and temperature recordings; these will be discussed with you at each visit. Visitors must now wear a facemask or a face covering and should restrict themselves to being from the same household i.e. there should not be a number of households visiting one person even if at different times.
We thank you for your support during this very difficult time and understand the distress these restrictions may cause however, however we must continue to be cautious to protect the people we support.
We are sure we will all work together to follow the new guidelines and adhere to social distancing. We have to adhere strictly to the plans for each individual and any breach will be result in the person having to isolate for 14 days.
As always the wellbeing of the people we support remains first priority and we will cancel or curtail visits again if their wellbeing, health or safety is at risk
Visiting will be available between 2pm and 3pm each day, to arrange a visit email the service directly, alternatively, if you do not have, access to email you can call the service directly.
Visiting will not be available during any periods of outbreak within the service.
